Full professorship of Cardiovascular Pharmacology in Essen University (1985): Voltage clamp studies in human ventricular cardiomyocytes – drug effects. Chair of Pharmacology at Medical Faculty of TU Dresden (1997-2014): Atrial fibrillation: electrophysiological remodelling in human atrial cardiomyocytes; atrial-selective antiarrhythmic drugs; novel antiarrhythmic drugs; potential of various stem cells for cardiac differentiation. Senior professor at Institute of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Heart Center Freiburg (since 2016, chair: Prof. Peter Kohl): Contribution of atrial fibroblasts to AF-induced remodelling processes.
