BPS Live - working with our journal partner

BPS Live webinars were introduced in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These two-to-three-hour sessions are hosted live and give the audience a chance to submit questions, respond to polls and other interactive tools.

We launched our first webinar in October 2020 with journal partners the British Journal of Pharmacology and the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology on the subject of 'The pharmacology of COVID-19'.  We enjoyed 573 unique viewers from 910 registrants (62%) from 46 countries staying for an average viewing time of 1 hour 19 minutes.

In follow up to this, 'Natural Products' ran in July 2021 and enjoyed a unique audience of 257 viewers from 390 registrants (66%) from 34 countries for an average viewing time of 49 minutes.

This represents a very high retention percentage and demonstrates that our online content is well received and of a quality that encourages our audience to stay.

You can partner with us by suggesting future topics for BPS Live sessions or if you have another idea you would like to discuss, please complete our partnership enquiry form.

AstraZeneca careers zone at Pharmacology

In 2020 we partnered with AstraZeneca for a unique opportunity at our flagship Annual Meeting, Pharmacology.  As part of the Career Zone within our exhibition, AstraZeneca shared their whole selection of job vacancies on offer as well as the opportunity to chat live to a member of their team.  Our delegates were able to ask questions about the roles on offer and find out what it’s like to work at a company at the forefront of creating a vaccine for COVID-19.

As well as sharing all their opportunities, AstraZeneca held live virtual job interviews during the meeting for their job vacancies. Interviews slots were released gradually in the run up to the meeting to ensure everyone got a chance to book in.  The sessions were so popular that an additional day was added during the meeting to allow all those interested to take part.  We were delighted to repeat this again in 2021 and look forward to future collaborations.

We enjoyed an interactive Career Zone Partnership at Pharmacology 2020 virtual and were delighted with the quality and volume of attendees. We forged some new relations with very relevant professionals in their early careers and look forward to continuing those conversations.

Zinc Media film with Richmond Pharmacology

In 2021, we partnered with Zinc Media to produce a series of complementary and informative films celebrating innovation and collaboration across the industry that highlighted the impact this has on millions in the pursuit for patient health.  The first film focused on what it’s like to work at Richmond Pharmacology, a contract research organisation specialising in early phase studies.

The film was featured during the society’s flagship Annual Meeting, Pharmacology, and introduced by BPS President, Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed following the Opening Plenary session on the first day of the event as well as running prior to the Closing Plenary on the final day.

Zinc Media are a critically acclaimed, award winning, content creation business. They are specialists in factual storytelling and are regularly commissioned to produce content on behalf of Panorama and Dispatches.

Through this partnership with Zinc Media, we tell the stories of the people within it. We profile various career pathways and showcase why the UK is a powerhouse in the research and development of medicines and therapeutics of the future.  Link to full article here.
