Education is at the heart of everything we do at the British Pharmacological Society. We have committed to “explaining the importance of pharmacology in the modern world by extending the Society's education and outreach activities” as a key strategic priority. As the primary UK learned society concerned with drugs and the way they work, our community of members and staff are at the cutting edge of research, clincial practice and teaching. We work across a range of areas to communicate and advance pharmacology knowledge and skills.
The Society provides leadership in higher education through:
We also work to support the future of pharmacology through our members by offering opportunities for continuing professional development, supporting educational and training initiatives, and creating resources designed for the next generation of pharmacologists. We are developing our careers advice, and we want to make sure that everyone has the chance to see if pharmacology opens a door to a career they love.
Pharmacology has an impact on people’s everyday lives and the Society promotes discussion of this through our broad outreach and engagement programme. We showcase and discuss pharmacology at schools, science festivals and other public events to inspire and inform young people, their families and their teachers, policymakers, educators and the general public.
If you would like to be involved in shaping education at the Society, we’d love to hear from you. There are a number of ways you can be involved, from committee and affinity group work to volunteering in our outreach and engagement programme. Please contact us to get involved.
