My research focuses on subcellular compartments (signalosomes) that enables cells to exert highly specialized tasks. To unravel the organization of recently discovered signaling components – among them Epac, PLD, AKAP, cofilin – we apply biochemical, molecular and cell biological methods. My research group integrates in vivo, ex vivo translational pharmacology, molecular (cell) biology including microfluidics, precision cut lung slices and others. Many devastating diseases, e.g. cancer, type-II diabetes mellitus, Alzheimers’s dementia, cardiovascular and airway diseases (heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, developmental defects, asthma and COPD), infection and metabolomics diseases are associated with defective or derailed signaling processes. The strength of my research lies in a multidisciplinary proceeding, continuation with local, national and international groups.
