Dr Stephen Alexander Ph.D

Steve Alexander is at the University of Nottingham and has been a member of the BPS since 1990, contributing to BPS meetings as a participant, a judge for presentations, session moderator and organizer for symposia/meetings. Steve was a first recipient of BPS’s Teaching Prize: "The Rang Prize".Steve has been an Editor, Reviews Editor and Senior Editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology.Steve’s research outputs have covered numerous drug targets, but with a focus on Cannabis-related medicines. This focus led to him serving as Secretary, then President (2015) of the International Cannabinoid Research Society.Since 1997, Steve has edited numerous works on nomenclature, notably the Concise Guide to Pharmacology series. He has also been Chair of the Nomenclature and Standards Committee of the Union of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (NC-IUPHAR) since 2015.
