Carl Kirkpatrick’s journey into pharmacology began with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and a PhD at the University of Otago in New Zealand. His career spans significant roles in academia and research at the University of Queensland and Monash University, where he served as the Director of the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety and Director of Pharmacy Education. Carl’s research focuses on clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, particularly in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. His work aims to optimize pharmacotherapy to improve patient outcomes. He has made notable contributions to pharmacometrics, quantitative systems pharmacology, and model-informed drug development, especially in anti-infective therapies.
