After obtaining his undergraduate degree at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown, Colin completed his PhD in bioengineering at the University of Strathclyde. Since joining Novartis as a postdoc in 1998, he has worked at various Novartis research sites in both Europe and the US and he is currently head of the Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetic Sciences groups at the Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD) in Emeryville, CA, USA. At NITD, he leads a group of associates in an integrated pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics approach to enable preclinical exploratory research, efficacy model and PK/PD support. He has extensive experience in all phases of drug discovery in infectious diseases research and in particular in parasitology. bacteriology, virology and mycology in vivo models of infection.
