Mark Christie graduated with a degree in Pharmacology from UC Cardiff in 1985 and was awarded a PhD from the University of Wales in 1989. He joined Fisons, Loughborough in 1988 and worked for Astra, then AstraZeneca as a pharmacologist & project leader. Mark moved to Celltech in 2001 as Head of Pharmacology (Cambridge), establishing a Multiple Sclerosis research group and becoming Deputy Site Director and portfolio head for Inflammation NCE projects. Mark is now Director of Akranim Ltd, the Preclinical Consultancy business he established in September 2008. He provides pharmacology, project management, drug discovery and training services to government agencies, charities and biotech companies in the UK & Europe. Mark was awarded a four-year BBSRC Industrial Impact Fellowship at King’s College London in 2009, during which time he raised over £2 million in funding for the Centre for Integrative Biomedicine. He now works part-time at King’s as a Senior Lecturer.
