Susan Duty is Reader in Pharmacology & Neuroscience within the Wolfson Centre for Age-Related Disease at King's College London. Dr Duty obtained her BSc and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Manchester. Following completion of post-doctoral positions at the Universities of Sydney and Manchester, she took up a lectureship appointment at King’s College London. Dr Duty is current Head of the Dept. of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Dr Duty is actively involved in delivery of both the Education and Diversity and Inclusion agendas. Education contributions span development and delivery of a second year undergraduate module, Research Skills in Pharmacology, and a final year module, Pharmacology of Neurological and Psychiatric Disorders. Dr Duty’s research interests are focused on finding novel therapeutic strategies to improve the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Particular areas of interest are in the neuroprotective potential of targeting of mGlu4 receptors, exploring the mechanisms underlying pain in Parkinson’s and combining bioinformatics with pharmacology to develop targeted repurposing strategies for Parkinson’s.
