Coming from a background in pre-clinical pharmacology and translational medicine, my research contributed to diverse models of neurodegeneration, neuroendocrine control, pulmonary inflammation, and cancer. During my PhD in Pharmacology at King’s College London (2007-2011), I collaborated with the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research to develop non-invasive imaging models of pulmonary fibrosis, and received the Novartis Global 3Rs award. Following my PhD, I was awarded the Cyril W Maplethorpe Fellowship (2012-2014) with a focus on pharmaceutical education and research excellence in higher education. My postdoctoral research contributed to a better understanding of nanomaterial safety in drug delivery and helped shape the use of research in undergraduate pharmacology education. In 2015, I took up a role as a pedagogical lecturer in pharmacology and physiology at Kingston University, London, becoming Course Leader for BSc Pharmacology (honours) in 2019. Since then, I have worked to embed enterprise strategies to teach real-world challenges in for sustainability in pharmacology, and contributed to overall TEF Gold (2023) for Kingston University.
