Dr Skett is a Forensic Pharmacologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology in the College of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow specialising specifically in the clearance of drugs from the body and the adverse effects of drugs. He has a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool, a PhD in Medical Chemistry from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm and an Expert Witness Certificate in Criminal Law from the University of Cardiff. He is a Professional Member of the Forensic Science Society and a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and has been a research scientist for 43 years specialising in the control of liver function and its role in the clearance and toxicity of drugs. He has prepared reports in many cases of substance abuse for a variety of legal firms in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. He is a director of the Glasgow Expert Witness Service Ltd. and a registered expert witness with the Law Society of Scotland Directory of Expert Witnesses, X-Pro and the UK Directory of Expert Witnesses and a registered expert adviser on the National Crime Agency (NCA) database.
