Fiona Thomson is a Senior Director of Neuroscience at AstraZeneca. Fiona has spent most her career in the pharmaceutical industry (MSD/Merck, Schering-Plough, Organon) and has successfully delivered several novel drug candidates into the development pipeline for CNS disorders. Fiona is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow where she established the Translational Pharmacology Laboratory. Her laboratory’s research focuses on the study of biomarkers in cancer patients, aiming to predict response and establish drug PK/PD relationships within early phase clinical trials of novel therapeutics. Fiona is a member of peer review panels for UK and international funders, assessing grant applications for funding for clinical trials of novel drugs. She has also participated in scientific advisory boards for various biotech companies, advising on drug discovery and development projects within neuroscience and oncology. Fiona gained her BSc and PhD in pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh and has been a member of the BPS since her student days.
