José-Antonio Arias-Montaño received his MD degree (1985) from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico City, and the PhD degree (Neurosciences, 1990) from Centre for Research and Advanced Studies (Cinvestav), also in Mexico City. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Pharmacology (1991-1993), University of Cambridge, and joined Cinvestav faculty in 1994, becoming Full Professor in 2016. He has served as Coordinator of Graduate Studies and Chairman of the Department of Physiology, Biophysics and Neurosciences at Cinvestav, and as President of the Mexican Physiological Society and Vice-president of the Mexican Pharmacological Society. Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and Mexican Academy of Medicine (Former President of the Department de Biomedical Sciences). Member of the editorial board of several journals. His major research interests are the brain histaminergic and dopaminergic systems and their interaction in the pathophysiology of neurological disorders. Supervision of 40 MSc and 28 PhD students. Visiting Scholar, University of Cambridge, and Visiting Professor at Free University Amsterdam, Purdue University and Université Libre de Bruxelles.
