Lynne Bollington is the lead consultant for the Prescribing Safety Assessment (PSA) and the Editor-in-Chief of BPS Assessment Ltd. Lynne is a registered pharmacist with over 20 years of clinical experience in the NHS and is an expert in education and assessment. She completed her PhD at Cardiff University, focussing on work-based training of preregistration pharmacists. She was a member of the GPhC’s Board of Assessment between 2004 and 2017 and chaired the Board through the development of the revised Registration Assessment for pharmacists in 2016. She currently leads on the creation of the Prescribing Safety Assessment (PSA), which is taken by over 7000 medical students annually. It is a summative assessment that allows medical students to demonstrate their competencies in relation to the safe and effective use of medicines. She is the Editor-in-Chief of BPSA’s Prescribing Skills Assessment, which delivers formative assessments of prescribing competencies, based on the PSA, to schools of medicine and pharmacy overseas. Lynne is also an expert advisor to the GMC for the delivery of the Applied Knowledge Test of the Medical Licensing Assessment.
