The effect of Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) on rat brain regional histamine concentrations was examined. Δ9‐THC reduced the histamine concentration of the hypothalamus, midbrain and cortex. It is suggested that Δ9‐THC may release histamine in the rat brain and that this amine may mediate some of the pharmacological effects of Δ9‐THC.
