The Schachter Award provides postgraduate students with an opportunity to visit an international laboratory to learn a new technique. Winners will receive up to £1,850 to cover the costs of travel, accommodation and subsistence.

- Quality of the project
- Feasibility to deliver the outcomes within the timeframe
- Potential to enhance the student’s knowledge, skills and broader experience
Eligibility
- Student must be a postgraduate Early Career Member, and is expected to have been a member for at least two years
- The supervisor must be an post-doctoral Early Career Member, Fellow or Full Member
- The student must be visiting an international laboratory to carry out the project
Application
Students must apply directly. Please apply via the link below and upload the following information in one PDF. Each must consist of no more than one page and use Arial 11 and Moderate margins:
- Cover letter from the student explaining why they have chosen to apply and what they hope to gain from the experience; a brief description of their academic career to date (including grades/marks); name of the technique, home institute and host institute
- An explanation of the technique (explaining relevance to pharmacological research); duration; how success will be evaluated; anticipated maximum cost to the student along with a breakdown of the expected costs
- Statement from the supervisor confirming that funds are available to cover research costs
There are two deadlines each year: 31 January or 30 June.
