Trustee positions open for applications, including President-Elect

Applications are open to become the next President-elect for the Society, as well as opportunities to join Council as the Industry Trustee and Clinical Trustee.

These roles, which are open for applications from Society members until midday BST on 2 October 2023, will help to shape the direction of the Society in the years to come. All three roles will serve their term from 1 January 2024.

We particularly encourage applications from engaged members to become President-Elect. This Trustee role will work closely with the President, Honorary Treasurer and Chief Executive to lead in the development of the Society. The role will also be the Trustee lead for the Society’s journal publications activities. The President-Elect will then serve a two-year term as President from 1 January 2026.

In addition, we have exciting opportunities to steer our Industry and Clinical strategies as a Trustee. Our Trustees are legally responsible for the Society’s governance and strategy and serve for three to four years depending on service. Meeting as part of the Society’s Council four times a year, Trustees are expected to bring expertise and insight in their key area to support the Society in reaching its strategic aims. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion for clinical pharmacology or with experience in industry who would like to get involved with key decision- making, and collaborate with Society staff and members.

Current Industry Trustee, Steve Rees, reflected on his experience within the role, saying:

‘Pharmacology remains a critical skill set across pharma, biotech and the CRO sector. As Elected Trustee (Industry), I develop strategies to understand how the Society can support industry scientists in their roles and increase Society membership. I have built new networks to help me succeed in my role as Trustee.'

To submit an application, learn more about the opportunities and ask any queries, visit the application portal.

In alignment with our strategic commitment and vision for equity, diversity and inclusion in pharmacology, the Society seeks to represent, and be inclusive of people from a wide variety of backgrounds across the communities we serve. The Society encourages applications from all eligible members, especially women, gender minorities and those from a minoritised ethnic group.

Applications will close at midday BST on 2 October 2023, with an election taking place in November 2023.
