2023 Winners announced for Sir Colin Dollery Clinical Pharmacology Training Award

The Society is delighted to announce its 2023 recipients of the Sir Colin Dollery Clinical Pharmacology Training Award.

The award provides a bursary to intercalating medical students studying pharmacology or a related discipline. It aims to increase the number of students specialising in clinical pharmacology and improve the pharmacology skills of those opting for a career in industry.

This year’s three recipients will all be studying for an Intercalated BSc in Pharmacology at Imperial College London, and we look forward to hearing how they got on with their projects.

The recipients – Nusrat Kamal, Emmanuel Lawal and Madhur Varadpande – discussed what winning the award means to them.

“Having many interests from obstetrics and gynaecology to endocrinology, pharmacology was able to intertwine the love of these specialities together and allow me to explore them further. Having to understand the pathophysiology to understand how a drug works allows me to explore my interests greatly through pharmacology.

“Sir Colin Dollery was described as a ‘moderniser’, someone who embraced innovation, kept up to date with the current findings and implemented evidence-based research into clinical practice. These are all things I aspire to do.”

“With this opportunity, I hope to follow in Sir Dollery's legacy by exploring innovative research and contributing to the betterment of healthcare for all.”
