J R Vane Medal

Background

This prize was established in 2001 in honour of Sir John Vane and was known as the JR Vane Medal until 2016. It is awarded annually for outstanding work in any research area.  

The prize

The winner will receive  a medal, £2,000, and be given the opportunity to present a lecture at a meeting of the Society.

Criteria

  • Quality of the nomination
  • Quality of the nominees’ career to date
  • Evidence of outstanding research

Eligibility

  • Self-nomination or nomination by members only
  • Candidates will be peak career/well established professors, and will ordinarily be expected to have been a member for at least 2 years.
  • There are no restrictions on age, nationality, place of residence or work of nominees
