Bursary terms and conditions

  1. You must be presenting an abstract to receive a bursary.
  2. Applications must be in the prescribed format.
  3. You must submit your application in advance of the meeting.
  4. Applicants are generally expected to have been a member of the Society for at least one year.
  5. You must certify if you have applied or obtained other funding. We may deduct this amount from the amount we pay.
  6. When applying for a non-Society meeting bursary (excluding meetings that have a dedicated bursary fund available), the advertised start date must not be more that 26 weeks in advance or six weeks after the deadline.
  7. Preference will is given to applications from students and to those who have not received a bursary within the same calendar year.
  8. Payments are direct to a bank account in the applicants’ name, unless otherwise stated in the confirmation email.
  9. The amount payable will be the upper limit of the award or the total of actual receipted costs, whichever is lower.
  10. For students the highest amount you can receive is 75% of the total cost of early-bird registration, accommodation and travel.
  11. For non-students the highest amount you can receive is 50% of the total cost of early-bird registration, accommodation and travel.
  12. The maximum award per meeting as well as per year is £750 - this may be over more than one meeting.
  13. We will not reimburse food and beverage or travel incidentals.
  14. We will only reimburse accommodation according to the duration of the meeting. For example, a one day meeting will result in one night's accommodation.
  15. Costs based on our assessment of the most cost effective mode of travel and a reasonable standard of accommodation.
