Bursary terms and conditions

Society bursaries:

  1. Applicants must be presenting an abstract.
  2. Applicants must be the sole presenter of the abstract.
  3. Applicants are generally expected to have been a member of the Society for at least one year.
  4. Applicants should ensure anticipated costs are in line with the Expenses Policy 
  5. Bursaries aim to cover registration, and up to 50% of travel and accommodation costs for Full Members and Fellows, and  75% for undergraduates and Early Career members.
  6. Awards will be based on our assessment of the most cost effective mode of travel and a reasonable standard of accommodation.
  7. The maximum award per meeting as well as per year is £750. This amount may cover more than one meeting.
  8. Awards are non-transferable.

Non-Society meetings bursaries:

  1. Retropective applications will not be considered.
  2. Applicants must certify if other funding has been applied for or obtained.

Payments:

  1. The amount payable will be the upper limit of the award or the total of actual receipted costs, whichever is lower.
  2. Costs for food and beverage or travel incidentals will not be reimbursed.
  3. Costs for accommodation will only be reimbursed in accordance to the duration of the meeting. For example, a one day meeting equals one night's accommodation.
  4. Payments are direct to a bank account in the applicants’ name, unless otherwise stated in the confirmation email.
