Edward Briffa

Edward spent 15 years in digital health, most recently as Director of Clinical Improvement at BMJ, where he was a member of BMJ’s executive committee. The division’s businesses included online learning and assessment, quality improvement, patient safety, evidence-based medicine, decision support and health analytics. He was formerly an external member of the Open University’s governing Council, and an appointed member of the National Information Governance Board and the NHS Care Record Development Board. Before moving into digital health, Edward worked for 20 years as a producer at the BBC, specialising in science, technology and medicine. He was editor of Tomorrow’s World and won an Emmy for a Horizon programme on Chernobyl. He led the launch of BBC Online and Interactive. Edward has a degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of Oxford.
