Dr Niall Hyland

Dr Niall P Hyland is a Senior Lecturer in Physiology at University College Cork (UCC) and a Funded Investigator at APC Microbiome Ireland. With a PhD in Pharmacology from King’s College London and postdoctoral training in Canada and Ireland, Dr Hyland's research is focussed on host-gut microbiota interactions and their impact on gastrointestinal physiology, drug metabolism, and the gut-brain axis. Dr Hyland serves as Programme Director for the BSc Physiology at UCC.
He is a Senior Editor for Pharmacology Research & Perspectives (PR&P) and previously served on the editorial board of the British Journal of Pharmacology. From 2017 to 2020, Dr Hyland was Vice President (Meetings) of the British Pharmacological Society, where he oversaw the organisation of scientific events. Recognised for his contributions, he is an Honorary Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society.
