The Welsh Government recently sought comments on a series of recommendations for the improvement of the appraisal process of orphan and ultra-orphan medicines in Wales. The Society responded to support the use of QALY in appraisal, to highlight potential problems in distinguishing between orphan and conventional medicines and to support recommendations with respect to equity.
