Dyflos (diisopropylphosphorofluoridate, DFP) retards the synthesis of lipid in the sciatic nerve of the chicken in vivo. A similar inhibition occurs in vitro, but only at relatively high concentrations (10−3m) of the drug. The major portion of the 14C supplied as acetate, and incorporated into lipid, is found with the fatty acids. Attempts to separate the lipids involved by paper chromatography were unsuccessful.
