During these uncertain times, we are more conscious than ever of our need to support and nurture our pharmacology community. The Society is here for you to facilitate connection with each other, and with trusted information and research during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am therefore pleased to share with you two Society initiatives that I hope you will find useful.
The first is our dedicated
COVID-19 hub on our website. Here you will find the latest news about how the Society is responding to the pandemic, including our
policy and research dissemination activities, our plans for
meetings and events and our work with
our partners to support members and the wider community. The hub also contains links to trusted
resources and information about
how you can help during this time. The hub is updated regularly, and we welcome
your suggestions for additions to its pages.
I am also delighted to tell you that in just a few weeks, we will be launching a new online community platform for all our members. The project has been in its pilot phase for the past few months, with a small number of members testing it and providing us with valuable feedback. We now feel that it is ready to share with a wider audience, and are planning to share it with you all in the middle of May.
This online Community is a place for members to come together to explore ideas, build supportive relationships, ask questions, and share research. It will become a way for us to network and provide support for each other, outside of the Society’s planned events and meetings. We have already seen members on the platform collaborating and sharing experiences, and most recently, discussing COVID-19 challenges, such as how to continue with teaching and exams in a virtual environment.
You will hear more about the Community in the coming weeks. I look forward to meeting you all on the platform very soon. And if you would like a sneak preview, please let us know by contacting
info@bps.ac.uk.
Finally, I wanted to reassure you that the work of the Society continues as usual, despite the fact that all of us are working remotely. We held the first virtual meeting of our Council a week ago, and all committees are continuing using the Society’s well-developed online capabilities. if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
