Statement from the President of the British Pharmacological Society, and Editors-in-Chief of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and British Journal of Pharmacology on the situation in Ukraine

The British Pharmacological Society, the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and the British Journal of Pharmacology try to improve the life of all people by publishing scientific medical articles on the development and the use of medicines and the optimisation thereof. The life of all people is sacred, and it should never be forcefully taken away by someone else. The Leadership of the Society and its journals are horrified by what is currently taking place in Ukraine, an independent country with inhabitants who want nothing more than to live in peace and make the world a better place for them and their loved ones. Like many around the World we implore Putin’s Government to cease their unilateral attack on a sovereign nation and we stand in unity with those who oppose their actions, risking life and freedom in doing so. We ask scientists and clinicians worldwide who have contributed to the development and use of safe medicines to please speak up and do whatever is in your power to challenge this assault on Ukraine’s democracy and freedom. Every life needlessly lost is one too many.
