2018 Fellowships announced

Every year, the British Pharmacological Society elects a small number of Fellows and Honorary Fellows. This year, nine Fellowships and eight Honorary Fellowships are awarded.

Honorary Fellowships 2018

There are currently 126 Honorary Fellows, including Nobel Laureates, international prize-winners, long-standing members of the Society, and those who have advanced the disciplines of pharmacology, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics through research, leadership and contribution to the British Pharmacological Society.

The 2018 Honorary Fellowships will be officially presented by Professor Stephen Hill, President of the British Pharmacological Society, to recipients during Pharmacology 2018.

  • Professor Susan Brain for her contribution to the Society, and for leadership in academic development and in the pharmacology of the microcirculation
  • Fiona Fox for her contribution to the public understanding of science, and for her advice to the Society on its engagement with the media
  • Professor Daniel Hoyer for his contribution to the British Journal of Pharmacology, and for leadership in the pharmacology of serotonin (5HT)
  • Professor Margaret MacLean for her contribution to the Society, and for leadership in the public understanding of pharmacology, and in pulmonary pharmacology
  • Dr Fiona Marshall for her contribution to British pharmacology and support for the Society
  • Professor Barbara McDermott for her contribution to the Society, and for leadership in academic development and in cardiovascular pharmacology
  • Professor Clive Page for his contribution to the Society, and for leadership in the public understanding of pharmacology and in the pharmacology of platelets, inflammation and asthma
  • Professor David Webb for his contribution to the Society as President and in other key roles, and for leadership in clinical pharmacology and regulatory affairs

Fellowships 2018

Fellows of the British Pharmacological Society are members who have demonstrated distinction and peer recognition in pharmacology.

There are currently 291 Fellows, all of whom have made, and may continue to make, substantial contributions to the disciplines of pharmacology, clinical pharmacology and therapeutics through their work, publication and presentation of research, leadership, and contribution to Society life.
