These guidelines are to ensure ease of reading and understanding of the content of a poster. Posters allow you to discuss their research with others. They should, along with the abstract, have enough information to give an understanding of the research.
Poster guidelines
Poster styling
The colours you use is your choice, but think about legibility. Avoid colour clashes such as green text on a red background.
Your poster must:
- be portrait orientation
- be no larger than A0 size
- have a full width heading banner, including the title, authors and institutions
- have a solid colour background, including white
- have vertical sections
- have a similar abstract title to that submitted
You can print your poster as a single sheet or as a banner with A3/A4 sheets corresponding to the same size.
Font
Your poster must be legible from several metres away. You must use a sans serif font, such as Arial. You can only use one font. Your poster text should be:
- Heading banner - point 96
- Author names and institutions - point 72
- Poster headings - point 48
- All text, including figure legends - point 28
Headings
Your poster should include relevant headings such as:
- Summary
- Introduction
- Materials and Methods or Experimental Procedures
- Results
- Discussion
- References
- Acknowledgements
Diagrams
We encourage the use of diagrams to illustrate methods or procedures. We recommend:
- no more than six figures or tables
- graphs contain no more than three curves
- tables contain no more than 30 values
Logos
You can include institutional logos in the banner. Sponsor's logos can go in either the banner or acknowledgments section.
