Volunteering with us
The British Pharmacological Society represents a vibrant community dedicated to advancing pharmacology. Its work is supported by members’ volunteering their insights and expertise areas across the whole spectrum of pharmacology.
We are keen to build our community and expand our reach and impact. Members are encouraged to be involved in a range of activities from media and outreach work, to helping the Society achieve its mission though its committees. In addition to supporting the Society, gaining experiences like these are increasingly recognised as valuable – not only to wider society and the next generation of pharmacologists, but also as part of advancing your own career.
Apply to join one of our committees
Joining a committee is one way in which members can help fulfil the Society’s charitable mission and shape future activity.
Being on the External Affairs Committee encompassed a wide variety of activities from providing input into the drafting of policy papers, discussions relating to social media and marketing, through to developing international relations. All of these proved to be an invaluable learning experience. This committee has taught me the importance of promoting pharmacology to both scientists and the wider community. Through sitting on this committee I have gained a great appreciation for the importance and activities of the Society and its committees, some of which I would hope to join in the near future if the opportunity arises.
