The British Pharmacological Society’s Specialty Trainee Registrar (StR) Sub-committee is recruiting a Chair

The British Pharmacological Society represents over 4,500 members with approximately 2,500 early career pharmacologists around the world. This includes undergraduates, postgraduates, recent graduates and those who have completed a relevant scientific or medical qualification in the last five years.

The Society’s StR Sub-committee ensures that the needs of the clinical pharmacology and therapeutics specialty trainee registrars in the UK are catered for. Members of the sub-committee and BPS staff work together to manage StR training, influence national policy, encourage recruitment to the specialty and communicate with the wider public.  The StR Sub-committee Chair leads the work of the Sub-committee (which meets twice a year) and attends the Society's Clinical Committee (which meets three times a year).

This is a voluntary role for a three-year term of office.

  • Support the work of the StR Sub-committee
  • Promote the profile of StRs and Clinical Pharmacology
  • Chair group meetings and work with external groups and activities
  • Take a lead on liaising with StRs on other BPS Committees and Groups
  • Take a leading role on specific projects relevant to StRs
  • Attend regular meetings and correspondence with BPS staff
  • Chair StR Sub-committee meetings, which take place a minimum of twice per year
  • Provide feedback, alongside the wider group, to the Society and staff team on how best to support StRs

How to apply

  • Applications are open to all Specialty Trainees Registrars (StRs) in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics who are members of the Society (or willing to join the Society as a member)
