Call for Applications: Associate Senior Editor (from 1 January 2026) 

The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology (BJCP), owned by the British Pharmacological Society and published by Wiley, is seeking a new Associate Senior Editor to join its Editorial Board from 1 January 2026. 

This is a unique opportunity for a UK-based Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics trainee to gain high-level editorial experience on a world-leading journal, contribute to the future of clinical pharmacology publishing, and support a collaborative global author and editor community.

About the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology (BJCP) 

BJCP bridges the gap between the medical profession, clinical research, and the pharmaceutical industry by publishing impactful research on all aspects of drug action in humans.

The Editorial Board includes seven Senior Editors, one Associate Senior Editor, Executive Editors, and an international advisory group led by the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor-in-Chief. 
 

Role Purpose 

The Associate Senior Editor role provides hands-on editorial training and mentorship within a leading international journal. The role is suited to UK-based CPT trainees with an interest in academic publishing, research integrity, and equitable science. 

You will support the Senior Editorial team and contribute to strategic journal activities while building editorial skills and networks in a supportive environment. Responsibilities can be tailored to your interests and capacity in agreement with the Editor-in-Chief. 
 

Key Responsibilities can include: 

Editorial Development & Support 

  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief in preparing Issue Highlights and Editor’s Picks 

  • Contribute to Editorials with support from Senior Editors 

  • Review manuscripts in your specialty area 

  • Support Senior Editors in processing submissions 

Journal Strategy & Community 

  • Contribute to editorial policy and new initiatives 

  • Advocate for BJCP within your institution and networks 

  • Support journal promotion at scientific meetings 

Leadership & EDI 

  • Attend monthly Senior Editor teleconferences 

  • Attend the annual Editorial Board meeting (funded) 

  • Champion EDI principles in authorship, peer review, and board activities 
     

Skills & Experience 

Essential 

  • National Training Number (NTN) in Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics (UK) 

  • Typically in the final three years of training (ST5–7) 

  • Enthusiasm for clinical pharmacology, publishing, and inclusive science 

Desirable 

  • Experience reviewing manuscripts 

  • Interest in editorial writing and research communication 

  • Engagement in the BPS community 
     

Term, Time Commitment & Support 

  • Term: 1 year 

  • Time commitment: Variable and flexible based on capacity (discussed with Editor-in-Chief)
