How to respond to peer review

Most articles that are submitted will come back with suggested corrections or edits after review. This is an integral part of the peer review process and will help improve the quality of the work you have submitted.

It can be hard when responses are critical or seem to be unhelpful, but it is important to remain objective and to remember that reviewers are only making recommendations. An editor will assess reviewers' comments as well as your responses before making a decision on your manuscript. Take time to address the reviewers’ points, and make sure you provide a justification for any suggestions you choose not to take on board.
