APPG on Diversity in STEM - enquiry into equity in the STEM workforce: written evidence

In November 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Diversity and Inclusion in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) launched its new inquiry into Equity in the UK STEM workforce.

The inquiry will examine how the Government and organisations employing STEM workers are helping to create a diverse and inclusive environment. This inquiry will evolve the argument from problems in education and the talent pipeline – which was the focus of the inquiry in Equity in STEM education – to examine the reality of the working world.

We have focused our response on the need to address the lack of equity in the STEM workforce at a systems level, focusing on impact early-career researchers, and welcoming government intitiatives such as the proposed development of a People and Culture Strategy, as laid out in the UK Research & Development roadmap. You can read more about our response in our news story.
