Applications for our 2025 awards are now open!
 
Our awards provide our members with career development opportunities and funding, as well as recognition for important pharmacology-related projects and ground-breaking research.

The application deadline for for all awards listed below is Friday 31 March 2025 unless otherwise stated.
 

BPS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Prize, sponsored by AstraZeneca

recognises members who champion Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. A generous donation of £1,000 from AstraZeneca will go to the winners. 
 

Bülbring Award

Up to £10,000 to support members who have returned to work following a significant career break and have not yet obtained substantial research funding from other sources.
 

Dunlop Prize

Up to £5,000 to support early career clinical members who would like to undertake a 3-week research visit to Australasia - supported by the BPS & ASCEPT.
 

Geoffrey Burnstock Prize

Recognises the achievements of established researchers. Winners will receive £1,000 and be offered the chance to give a lecture.
 

Pickford Award

Up to £10,000 to support members in the early stages of their careers who have not yet obtained substantial research funding from other sources.
 

Rang Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching

Recognises members who have made an exceptional contribution to the teaching of pharmacology in the past five years. Winners will receive £1,000.
 

Schachter Award

Application deadline: 30 June

Up to £1,850 to support postgraduate students during a visit an international laboratory to learn a new research technique.
 

Sir Colin Dollery Clinical Pharmacology Training Award

Application deadline: 30 June

Bursaries of £6,000 available to medical students studying for an intercalating degree with strong pharmacology or industry components.
 

Sir Henry Wellcome Gold Medal

Recognises outstanding and sustained achievement and leadership in pharmacology and therapeutics. The winner will receive a medal and £2,000.
 

Vacation Studentships

Up to £1,850 to support undergraduates undertaking a summer research project.
 

Vane Medal

Recognises outstanding achievement and leadership in non-clinical pharmacology. Winners receive a medal and £2,000 and have the opportunity to give a lecture.
 

Vogt Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Postgraduate Studies

Recognises outstanding achievement in postgraduate studies. Winners will receive £500.
 

Zaimis Prize for Sustained Achievement & Leadership in Pharmacology Teaching

Recognises sustained achievement and leadership in pharmacology teaching. Winners will receive £2,000.
