Our strategy

A clear strategy helps us set direction, focus our priorities, and ensure we are making the greatest possible impact for our members and the wider community. It helps us respond to and shape an evolving scientific and professional landscape.

BPS Strategy 2026 - 2030: Towards 100 Years

The British Pharmacological Society (BPS) has reached the end of its previous strategy at a time of significant change. The landscape for UK learned societies and the broader research environment has evolved significantly since our founding in 1931, presenting both challenges to the way the Society operates, but also opportunities for change and innovation. To remain relevant to our community and to strengthen our position within the sector, we must be forward-thinking and proactive in embracing this change within our new strategy.

The BPS Strategy 2026 - 2030: Towards 100 Years outlines our five-year plan.

Strategy 2026 - 2030 webinar

In February 2026, we held a webinar where Professor Cherry Wainwright (BPS President), Dr Neha Issar-Brown (CEO) and Kathryn Banham (Director of Scientific Programmes, Policy and Partnerships) talked through how the new plan was developed, the main areas we’re focusing on, what we want to achieve, and how we’ll know we’re making progress. They also share our longer-term ambitions for the Society as we look ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2031.
