The British Pharmacological Society (BPS) and its publishing partner Wiley will take full ownership of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives (PR&P), following the sale of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET)’s stake in the journal.

Launched in 2013 as a Gold Open Access journal, PR&P was established as a collaboration between ASPET, BPS and Wiley. Over the past decade, it has grown into a recognised platform for high-quality research spanning both basic and clinical pharmacology, supporting advances in research reliability, early clinical development and the challenging of established pharmacological thinking.
For BPS, the transition represents an important step forward in strengthening its publishing portfolio by bringing all three of its journals together under one umbrella.
BPS Chief Executive Neha Issar-Brown said:
“This strategic transition marks an exciting opportunity to bring all three BPS journals together, strengthening the complementarity, visibility and collective impact of our publishing portfolio across the full spectrum of pharmacology, from basic and discovery science through to clinical and translational research. We extend our heartfelt thanks to ASPET for their invaluable contribution and partnership over the years, which has been instrumental in shaping PR&P’s success. We look forward to continuing our wider collaboration in support of pharmacological science, while taking PR&P to new audiences and further expanding its reach and impact.”
Jennifer Martin, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives, said:
“From its origins with its first editor-in-chief, Mike Curtis, through subsequent years of growth and flourishing, PR&P has made a great impact on the field of pharmacology research. On behalf of the editorial board, I am honoured to move the journal forward through this transition. For authors and readers, very little will change — we will maintain the same editorial standards, submission processes, and readership experience that you’ve come to expect from PR&P.”
ASPET has welcomed the move as a natural next step in the evolution of both organisations’ publishing portfolios, reflecting their long-standing collaboration in advancing pharmacology worldwide.
BPS and ASPET will continue to work together in support of the global pharmacology community as PR&P enters its next phase.
