In memoriam: Professor Anthony Smith

The British Pharmacological Society (BPS) is sad to report the death of Professor Anthony Smith. Professor Smith joined the BPS in 1970 and was elected to Honorary Fellowship in 2021.

Professor Smith made a sustained contribution to medicine and clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, both for the Society in the early years of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, and to the teaching of medical students and the regulation of the prescribing of medicines in Australia.

- Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, BPS President

The Society will shortly publish a full obituary. Our thoughts are with Professor Smith's family.
