The Society's comment on the Wakeham review

Professor David Webb, President of the British Pharmacological Society, comments, “The British Pharmacological Society welcomes Sir William Wakeham’s review of STEM degree provision and graduate employability. The Society was pleased to be able to contribute our members’ insights on potential challenges faced by pharmacology graduates as part of the review process. We recognise the need for strategies to assess and enhance the impact of all graduates. In particular, we support the review’s calls for improving the data on graduate employment outcomes, and for increased engagement between employers and universities, which will be vital in determining future degree provision and outcomes. We are already committed to working with members and employers to deepen our understanding of pharmacology education and skills needs as part of the Focus on Pharmacology initiative.”
