The Society has opened its Fellowship to individuals who have been voting members for five years. This replaces the previous requirement, which was five years as a Full Member. This means that Early Career Members (or those who have recently progressed to Full Membership) who have made substantial contributions to the Society can now be recognised with a Fellowship.
This change aligns with our strategic plan, which focuses on removing barriers to inclusion. It allows more members to apply for Fellowship who have demonstrated dedication and commitment to the Society, which is one of the requirements for Fellowship.
The Society’s Council wants to recognise members in the earlier stages of their career if they have shown the level of contribution that is expected of prospective Fellows.
BPS President, Professor Clive Page, said: “I am pleased that the BPS has expanded the eligibility for Fellowship to allow recognition of members in the earlier stages of their career who have demonstrated the dedication and commitment to our Society. I look forward to welcoming more Fellows to the BPS”
Elected Trustee (Early Career Pharmacologist), Alina Zorn, said: “I hope this will inspire Early Career Pharmacologists who have already made a significant contribution to the field and the Society to be recognised for their achievements by applying for Fellowship. I really look forward to highlighting the exceptional work of our Early Career Members by welcoming them as BPS Fellows”
The deadline for Fellowship applications is 1 August.
