Aileen King is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at King’s College London. She received a BSc in Biomedical Sciences with Diploma in Industrial Studies from the University of Ulster, Coleraine, Northern Ireland and a PhD in Medical Sciences from Uppsala University, Sweden. She carried out postdoctoral studies at Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard University for three years before starting an RCUK fellowship in Integrative Pharmacology at King’s College, London in 2006. This was funded in part by the British Pharmacology Society Integrative Pharmacology Fund. In January 2011, she took up a position as Lecturer in Pharmacology at KCL and is now a Senior Lecturer. Her research interests focus on diabetes. Aileen is a member of the Pharmacology and Therapeutics teaching department at KCL where she holds the role of senior tutor. Her teaching interests include developing and delivering a second year in vivo based module on animal models of disease. Dr Aileen King was awarded the British Pharmacological Society’s Integrative Pharmacology Fellow Prize in 2009 for her excellent contribution to teaching. She is a member of the BPS animal welfare and in vivo pharmacology sub-committee.
