Peer reviewers play a crucial role in ensuring the journal publishes high-quality content. It’s a great way of giving back to the scientific community while also enhancing your own skills.
Editor-in-chief
Professor Jennifer Martin (2024 - present)
Professor Jennifer Martin was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives in December 2023 and assumed the role in January 2024. She is the Chair of Clinical Pharmacology at the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and a Senior Staff Specialist in Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at the Hunter New England Local Health District. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the School of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, and an Honorary Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and the Frazer Institute at the University of Queensland. She has been the Board Director of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians since 2020.
Professor Martin served as the Deputy Editor of the journal from January 2021 to December 2023
Professor Martin’s aims for PR&P are to “bring new science to pharmacology, and new pharmacology to patients”. She also highlights that “quality drug development and individualised drug therapy” are important research areas, and that “the publication of emerging pharmacological methods, particularly artificial intelligence and knowledge around the interface of human physiology and pharmacology to target variability in drug response, are opportunities to improve patient health".
History of PR&P
Pharmacology Research & Perspectives is the youngest BPS journal. It was established in 2013 as a joint endeavour between the British Pharmacological Society, the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and Wiley. The journal has since grown significantly, with its first Impact Factor awarded in 2019 and subsequent increases in submissions and published papers.
