This award supports members who have returned to work following a significant career break and have not yet obtained substantial research funding from other sources. Winners will receive up to £10,000.
Funding can go towards research costs and professional development. For example, the purchase of consumables and equipment, access to technical support, training and travel.
Criteria
- Career to date
- Strength of the project proposal
- There is no timelimit on the career break. Reviewers will judge whether a candidate needs a "springboard" to re-establish their career.
Eligibility
- Member for at least two years
- Had a recent career break
- Focus of the project must be on pharmacology
- Published at least two first author papers in the field of pharmacology
- On, or aiming for, an academic career track
- In full or part-time employment with at least six months remaining on their current contract
- Supported by a letter from the grant or fund holder which pays the applicants salary (non-tenured positions)
- Must not be in receipt within the last 12 months of direct research funding as the principal or co- investigator exceeding £150,000.
- Will have preferably presented at a Society meeting in the last three years.

Winners must submit a report within 12 months of receiving the award and update the Society on their career progress in the years following.
