Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology
Dan gained his PhD in Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine from the University of Leicester before moving to the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Liverpool where he is currently a Senior Lecturer and a founding member of the Wolfson Centre for Personalised Medicine. His teaching covers a range of subjects across the pharmacology discipline, and he has recently led a curriculum review of the BSc Pharmacology programme. He is currently the Programme Director of the MSc Precision Medicine and Deputy Director of the University of Liverpool -Xi’an-Jiaotong Liverpool University Joint Centre for Pharmacology and Therapeutics. His research encompasses many aspects of drug safety science, pharmacogenomics and personalised medicine. However, he has a particular a research interest in understanding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and identifying prognostic biomarkers of the severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions (ADRs) Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). His group are developing in vitro, and ex vivo models of SJS/TEN to help advance understanding of predisposition, and to develop new targeted therapies.
