Louis Dwomoh

Lead Scientist (Translational Medicine)

Louis completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof Aniko Varadi (UWE Bristol) and Prof Elek Molnar (University of Bristol). In 2017, Louis moved to the University of Glasgow as a postdoctoral research scientist to work with Prof Andrew Tobin on a Wellcome Trust Collaborative Award project. Louis developed and applied skills in neuropharmacology, molecular biology and proteomics to explore the molecular and behavioural changes underpinning neurodegeneration and cognitive deficits in novel (chemo)genetic and disease mouse models, and how selectively targeting the M1-muscarinic receptor rescues these abnormalities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Louis was seconded to Scotland’s Lighthouse COVID-19 Testing Lab, where he worked on a key PCR testing workstation. Louis won several grants and awards for his research and presentations and undertook a 12-week research visit to the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, thanks to the Royal Society International Exchange Award and the Scotland-Rhineland-Pfalz Collaboration Award. In 2023, Louis moved to Sosei Heptares (now Nxera Pharma UK) as Lead Scientist in Translational Neurology, where he provides translational biology leadership for CNS drug discovery programmes at preclinical stages of development.
