Brian Edwards

Dr Edwards is an internationally recognised physician and expert in pharmacovigilance and drug safety with over 30 years’ experience as regulator and in the industry. He is long-standing member of the British Pharmacological Society and has been involved in joint pharmacovigilance sessions. He has held major leadership roles in the International Society of Pharmacovigilance to develop its global structure and function and foster relationships with other similar organisations including BPS, CIOMS and WHO. He has published several thought leadership articles and book chapters on pharmacovigilance. He was one of the founders of the DIA Forum for the EU qualified person for pharmacovigilance. On behalf of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, he was the quality convenor to establish and monitor the Drug Safety Surveillance module as part of accreditation in pharmaceutical medicine. He established the world’s first pharmaceutical human factors group in the Chartered Institute of ergonomics and Human Factors and is recognised for his innovative leadership in this role reflected in several original publications.
