About the Guide to PHARMACOLOGY
The IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY is a free-to-access online resource that acts as a “one-stop shop” for pharmacological information on ligand-activity-target relationships. Its main feature is the searchable database containing quantitative information on drug targets and the prescription medicines and experimental drugs that act on them.
The Guide is expertly curated, and the majority of its information comes from high-quality pharmacological and medicinal chemistry literature. It is a valuable resource for researchers and students in pharmacology and drug discovery, and provides the general public with accurate information on the basic science underlying medicines.
The Guide is a collaboration between the International Union of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) and the British Pharmacological Society (BPS).
Concise Guide to PHARMACOLOGY
The Concise Guide to PHARMACOLOGY is published every two years by the British Journal of Pharmacology. It provides an overview and a permanent, citable, point-in-time record of data from the online BPS/IUPHAR Guide to PHARMACOLOGY database. It is produced in close conjunction with the Nomenclature and Standards Committee of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (NC-IUPHAR), and therefore provides official IUPHAR classification and nomenclature for human drug targets, where appropriate.
