Awards Panel

The Society seeks to recognise excellence, innovation and enthusiasm in all areas of pharmacology through numerous prizes and awards. These awards shine a spotlight on the brilliant contributions of our members, as well as supporting career progression. The Society’s Awards Panel advises Council on all matters relating to the Society’s prizes, awards, studentships and lectureships. The panel assesses nominations and regularly reviews the Society’s prizes and awards themselves to make sure they are as relevant and inclusive as possible.

Clinical Committee
Number of members: 15
The Clinical Committee has been established by Council to advise Council on matters relating to promoting and advancing clinical pharmacology and related clinical specialties.

Early Career Pharmacologist Advisory Group
Number of members: 24
Represents the interests and views of members who are not more than five years post PhD or medical qualification, or are completing their undergraduate degree (excluding career breaks of maternity/paternity leave), and to provides two- way communication between these members and Council & Committees.

Education and Training Committee
Number of members: 13
Works to embed education in the Society’s activities, and develops resources and initiatives that improve education, teaching, training, and continuing professional development for pharmacologists. Develops and keeps under review the core curricula in pharmacology and the research animal sciences curriculum for courses in which the discipline forms a significant component. The committee is a great way to support students and educators through provision of educational resources, to network with colleagues and to share good practice. Apply to join the committee here.

Engagement Committee
Number of members: 11
Provides support, direction and oversight for engagement with both the membership and the wider public. Championing pharmacology and sharing our work with as many people as possible, both scientists and non-scientists, - to drive the field forward, challenge fake news and help inspire the next generation of pharmacologists. The committee works to ensure that appropriate opportunities are taken to promote and advance pharmacology with wide ranging and diverse audiences and stakeholders. Steering committee for Council. Its main purpose is to prioritise issues for the Board to address, through overseeing organisation direction and providing closer oversight of operational effectiveness between Council meetings. --------------

Advises Council on financial strategy and monitors the Society’s financial situation in detail.

Honours & Fellows Panel

Advises Council on awarding Fellowship and Honorary Fellowship and manages Society nominations for National Honours.

Industry Sub-Committee
Number of members: 10
Provides a voice for members with an industry background. Work on activities to address the concerns of, and issues faced by, Industry Members and to showcase the important contributions of industry to the broader pharmacology community. The sub-committee works with the Society’s Engagement Committee to represent the interests and views of members across industry and provides an important channel for communication between these members and the Society.
