Our prizes, awards and grants recognise the contributions of our members to pharmacology in all its forms and throughout their careers.

Bill Bowman Prize

This biennial prize supports the professional development of early career, non-clinical members. Recipients are offered the opportunity to give a lecture and awarded up to £5,000 to support a research visit to Australasia - funded by BPS & ASCEPT.

BPS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Prize, sponsored by AstraZeneca

This annual prize recognises members who champion Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. A generous donation of £1,000 from AstraZeneca will go to the winners, who will also have the opportunity to communicate their contribution.

Bülbring Award

This award supports members returning to work following a career break. Winners will receive up to £10,000.

Geoffrey Burnstock Prize

06 Feb 2024

This prize recognises the achievements of established researchers. Winners will receive £1,000 and be offered the opportunity to give a lecture at a Society meeting.

Grahame-Smith Prize

06 Feb 2024

This biennial prize recognises outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacology. Winners will receive £1,000 and an invitation to give a lecture at a future meeting organised by the Society.

Pickford Award

06 Feb 2024

This award provides career-enhancing opportunities for early career members. Winners will receive up to £10,000 to fund a short term project or visit to a laboratory to learn a new technique.

Rang Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching

06 Feb 2024

This annual prize recognises outstanding achievement in the teaching of both clinical and non-clinical pharmacology. There are up to two awards available. Winners will receive £1,000.

Vacation Studentships

06 Feb 2024

This studentship encourages undergraduates to take pharmacology as a specialism. Winners will receive up to £1,850 to help cover living costs during a research project.

Vogt Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Postgraduate Studies

06 Feb 2024

This prize rewards outstanding achievement in postgraduate studies. Winners will receive £500.

AJ Clark Studentship

This studentship enables scientists to carry out research in pharmacology leading to a PhD.
