Engagement Training Bursary

As a member, you can apply for a bursary to help you develop engagement skills. From public speaking to exhibition design, stakeholder mapping to blogging, there are so many opportunities to grow your skills and share pharmacology with the world. The Society offers up to £500 to help you develop or improve your engagement skills through in-person or online training opportunities.

This fund is administered by the Engagement Committee. You can find out more about their activity and the resources available to you here.

These funds can be used to cover registration fees for events and up to 50% of travel and accommodation costs  associated with event attendance (or up to 75% in the case of undergraduate members). The committee will also consider reasonable requests for funding to cover other aspects to facilitate attendance and participation on a case by case basis. Because we want to support this kind of development for as many of our members as possible, budget restrictions may mean that we are not always able to award the full amount requested.

Who can apply?

You must have been a member of the Society for at least 6 months and able to demonstrate how you plan to use the skills developed through this training.

Additional information

  • After the training, we expect you to write a short report on the training or course covering its benefits, what you learnt and how you plan to use these skills in the future. This may be considered for publication in Pharmacology Matters.

  • To receive payment, you need to complete and submit our bursary claim form. This must be within four weeks of the closing date of the meeting/training activity. Along with your bursary claim form you must submit:

    • Original receipts (keep copies if required, as we will not return these)

    • A copy of email confirming the bursary

    • A certificate of attendance

    • A short report on the meeting, whether you found it useful, what skills you learnt and how you plan to use these going forward.

Please note that we will only make payments to a bank account in the applicant’s name, unless otherwise agreed by our Finance team.
