The British Pharmacological Society is inviting applications for volunteers to support the delivery of the 19th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP2023). This role is ideal for someone starting out their career in the life sciences, or someone seeking the opportunity to enhance their CV at a global event. The successful candidate will show enthusiasm for volunteering, be a keen team player and have a willing, ‘can-do’ attitude.

WCP2023 will see over 2,000 pharmacologists from over 80 countries converge at the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow for six days of cutting-edge science, networking and a taste of Scottish culture.  

Volunteers will support the BPS staff team onsite at the event, with roles including question moderation, supporting session chairs, assisting with delegate registrations and contributing to social media at the event.  

Successful candidates will be required to work onsite at the Scottish Events Campus in Glasgow, UK.

Applications will be accepted from candidates based all over the UK. However, please note that we are unable to contribute towards travel or accommodation expenses.  

This is a voluntary position, therefore there will be no financial renumeration. However, volunteers will be offered one additional days’ complimentary registration for the Congress, in return for each day of volunteering.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day. 

No event-specific experience is needed, and any required training will be provided at the start of your first working day.

Interviews: Informal phone/video conversations will take place in mid-May and June. These will not be formal interviews, but an opportunity for shortlisted candidates to meet the organising team and learn more about the Congress.
